Volkswagen Amarok was christened in the ocher dust of the famous Dakar Rally. What an initiation onto the world automotive stage. For the last thirty years and more, this race has created legends of riders, drivers and machines. Amarok is the latest amazing story to emerge. Fresh off the production line, 35 Amaroks were commissioned – 20 to support the Volkswagen race team, 15 to be used by the race organization as the official support vehicle. After 15 torrid stages across 8,000km of uncompromising terrain in Argentina and Chile, just 42% of all competitor cars finished in 2010. All 35 Amaroks handled the challenge without a problem. And so behold – the latest Dakar legend: New Volkswagen Amarok.
